Barwon Nature Adventures works with people to provide activity programs that interest them. This might be one single activity or a range of activities over a whole day. We deliver one to one programs, with small groups considered by special request. We are happy to help people participate in activities of their choosing. Barwon Nature Adventures specialises in outdoor adventure style activities such as surfing, stand up paddle boarding, swimming, kayaking, hiking, bike riding, indoor rock climbing and fishing. All activities are run by qualified and experienced staff in each activity and all equipment is provided.
If adventure style activities are not your pace, please contact us to help you participate in other activities of your choosing. This might include a round of golf, a leisurely walk/roll, a beach ramble and exploring rockpools, a swim at a pool, guided nature walks/rolls etc. We are happy to work with you to plan a program that will be accessible for you and that you will enjoy.
The Bellarine and Surf Coast offer many amazing surf locations for people of every ability. We cater for everyone, from first time beginners who want to give it a go, to people who might have surfed or bodyboarded regularly.
Private surf lessons available from qualified instructors.
All equipment is provided. We use soft foam longboards for ease of catching a wave and greater stability.
Bike riding is a great activity offered for people of every ability. You might enjoy a gentle flat ride along the Barwon River or be more adventurous and try some mountain bike trails at the You Yangs, Anglesea or Forrest.
Check out our electric bike that allows greater accessibility for some participants to ride longer distances and tackle hills with ease. Designed with an easy step over frame, this bike is great for all.
Explore local rivers and lakes by getting up close in a kayak. This is a great slow paced and relaxing activity that is easily learnt. All equipment supplied and instruction given if required.
Fishing from the kayak is also an option to try.
All kayaks are sit on top style with a padded seat for comfort.
There are many beautiful natural locations close by that allows us to enjoy many different trails. Walks and trail rides can be designed to suit anyone's ability and can range from quite short to all day adventures.
Fishing is a great, relaxing activity that anyone can participate in. There are so many different fishing locations available that it's impossible to list them all. You can choose to fish in fresh or saltwater and target a huge range of different species. No fishing license is required and all equipment is provided.
The Bellarine and Surf Coast have many spectacular beaches that provide a range of different activities and are great for a whole day. People may enjoy exploring various rock pools, wading, swimming in flat waters or amongst the waves or playing games on the sand.
Beach wheelchairs can be accessed at various locations.
Did you know that around the Geelong, Bellarine and Surf Coast areas there are hundreds of secret boxes, canisters and puzzles hidden for you to find. There may even be one near your house that you didn't know about.
Geocaching is a global game where people create "caches" and hide them, sometimes with puzzles and treasures, these can be found using a map. With a premium membership, BNA staff have access to all of these and can create a great day out.
Challenge yourself in a vertical way. Try an indoor rock climbing session at The Rock Adventure Centre with guided access helping you achieve your potential. Take your choice of wall and route to make each climb as easy or a difficult as you like.
Barwon Nature Adventures has connected with the Making Waves Foundation to be able to offer sailing opportunities to participants. Come aboard an ocean racing yacht fully modified to take all passengers including wheelchair users. Working with the expert volunteer sailors you will get to try working on different parts of the yacht to help sail it around Port Phillip Bay for an unforgettable experience.
Our conservation group programs can be run 1:1 with an experienced worker or in small groups. The focus of these programs is to give back to the local environment that we enjoy so much. These are often great days spent working with friendly people.
Having relationships with a number of organisations and property managers, Barwon Nature Adventures runs these programs in a variety of different environments. This allows for different types of jobs to be completed to suit the participant. Jobs can include weed removal, planting, clean ups, equipment/fence checks and more.
These programs can be designed to develop work based skills and teamwork in a supported environment.
Immerse yourself in the wonders of nature with an overnight camping experience. This can be developed for every experience level even if it is your first time sleeping in a tent. Many locations are available and can link in with other activities during the day.
Fall asleep to and wake up with the sounds of nature, stargaze away from the city lights, share campfire stories and roast some marshmallows. All equipment can be provided for these amazing adventures.
